Now this is a strange one. Hardly ever seen these days, the Sympodium is a hardy soft coral that has almost unique colouration and growth form.
The base colour of the coral is bright blue, the polyps are a vivid fluorescent green and blue. It grows in small 'trees' that split readily to occupy the space where it is placed. As with most soft coral polyps it is not really very invasive and we have not found it to dominate or overtake SPS.
Medium light and medium flow, although it seems to be able to take high levels of light without too much difficulty.
