No reef tank should be without it. The Forest Fire monti is a staple of a discerning reefers collection of corals. With a strong red polyp on a green base it's a striking coral that will create a colony in no time at all in good conditions. Your frag of forest fire will be mounted on a small plug and will be 1.5 - 2" in size.
Given good conditions this coral is fairly bulletproof and is a great indicator of water quality changes. If the red dulls then it can be iodine or potassium deficiency, if the green goes dull then it can be excess nutrients, low iron or other metals. It is not often that nature provides such a beautiful coral that is useful for the tank and grows into a colony so rapidly.
We keep forest fire under medium to high light with medium flow; as the coral branches it will require further flow.
